Summer 2016 embroidery trend

Here are some photos taken on a West End embroidery and embellishment research trip.  I was looking for inspiration for some late summer designs I'm working on for a high street retailer. While 2015 was focused heavily on the 70s revival, there's still a strong feeling for that decade, mixed up with some 90s and lots of quirky fun, clever old school needlework techniques. Vintage folkloric embroidery was evident, alongside lace, crochet and all manner of applique. We're definitely stepping away from minimalism which is good news for us print and textile designers. Bring it on.....
